Goose question

We have lived on a pond for 20 years- @ 15 years ago a pair of geese set up their nesting place in our backyard. It's been a bad experience because the male was VERY aggressive. A few years ago a coyote killed the male. This year the female is back and has made her nest again on our property. She is sitting on the nest- but there is NO male??? What does that mean? I know how aggressive the male is (had years of dealing with it).

It probably means she didn't find a new mate. Although another gander may have bred her, there's a good chance all or most of her eggs are infertile.
