Thanks Jazmine, I could tell the we're some rubber tub, love your ideas on ponds! We are planning on building one so now I know the sump pump is a good idea. Love the pic of the geese Inspecting the pond as it was being built.... So cute!

What Temperature zone are you in?
For Zones 6 - 9...Could suggest a Vitex or Crepe Myrtle. Both can be trimmed up from the bottom like a tree and offer shade , foilage and flowers for color. Pampas grass or Maiden grass would not be tasty for the birds but would offer texture and color.
