Hello,
I have a young goose who does very well on grass, but whenever she eats pellets (alfalfa, or parrot pellets she steals from the ground), she regurgitates the food and generally has problems. She ate a lot of rabbit pellets last night, which I was told were good, and her crop is having trouble emptying, and she will not eat, regurgitating the food. This has happened before, but she has never eaten such a large amount so it is worse this time. Yet again, this never happens when she eats grass.
She will take water enthusiastically, so what should I do? Should I give her some vitamins or a supplement in water? Is there anything that will help with crop emptying that I could put in her water?
And what would cause such a condition? Does she need antibiotics?
The vet we have is basically incompetent and would either say the goose was completely fine, or that she needed antibiotics and would likely get the diagnosis wrong as she has many times. So I wanted to know if anyone had an idea about what this may be.
Thank you.
Oh geez, I was just reading something - I think she might have E-Coli.
She has a dropped wing, is losing weight, and now this regurgitation.
I am highly concerned.
