When I got 15 chicks in July I also got a goose to raise with them for protection. Well now I am noticing that the goose may be attempting to mount my chickens. I thought I had gotten a female goose. Now I am wondering if she is a male. My question is will a goose attempt to mount a chicken and what do I do about it. Thanks for all of the advice.

Without a goose present, and having been raised with chickens it is likely that a gander might try to breed the hens. Separation or a goose would be likely solutions. If he succeeds in breeding a hen it could cause injury or death - ducks and geese have penises but roosters do not.

With geese....a 'goose' is a female and 'gander' is a male?

More confusing than chickens!
Female chickens are called pullets until one year of age, then they are called hens.
Male chickens are called cockerels until one year of age, then they are called cocks(or cockbirds or roosters).
