Goose with bum leg and curled toes.

I have no idea on the lump. I am just going to wait and see. If it starts feeling warm or something then I will deal with it then. She has enough of me messing with her over the leg I don't want to add that to it as well. Well as far as her looks I think she is even prettier then my other Embden girl, Snow.

And shhh, but I think the Sebbies and Embdens look the same in the face too.

She is continuing to improve all the time. She now touches the ground with the bad leg while standing. She is also regains her balance in between hops by touching it down. I have seen her flexing it back behind a tiny bit herself as well. She is now using it to move around in the water too. She still won't put any actual weight on it but I think in a weeks time she will probably be using it albeit carefully.

I checked the lump on her neck more closely and I have no idea what to make of it. The skin is fine and the feathers are growing out of the area nicely. There is no heat to it so I think whatever caused it I think happened sometime ago. It is about the size of a quarter so pretty large when you think of it on a goose neck. It feels hard and a tad lumpy. Very strange. I doubt it needs any tending after checking it more closely which is a relief. She is doing great and I am really happy. She looks much happier too.

I wonder if geese can get fatty tumors like dogs? they aren't anything to worry about just fatty. Happy to hear about progress!!

I'm glad your goose is doing better! I do not know about fatty tumors, but geese do get abscesses and impactions. My friend has a mute swan that developed a tumor looking growth under his chin that was surgically removed a couple of days ago. It turned out to be a foxtail that worked its way under skin and developed fungal and bacterial issues.

Thanks both of you. I am really glad she is doing better too. I can see the end of this leg problem coming and I suspect that though she doesn't fight me hardly at all she will be glad for me to stop having to grab her and massage and flex the leg. As far as the neck thing, fatty tumors are usually softer from my understanding. This is rather hard and lumpy. I could be though that something is under there and her body walled it off. I will keep an eye on it but unless it gets worse in some way or other I will probably not worry too much about it. Now that she is used to me touching her and she will stay still I can say that the skin looks fine and there is no heat to it and I have never seen her scratching it even though its on her good leg side. She wiggled so much before when I checked it I was never completely sure if I missed a red spot or something. Whatever it is doesn't seem to affect her moving the neck or anything.

She is still on the mend. She is now putting the foot down to re-balance after each hop. She still won't put weight on the leg at all but at least I am seeing her use it. She is moving it farther back in the water then I had seen her do herself since I got her too. I've stopped doing the massages on her a few days ago as she doesn't seem to have any muscles with knots any more but I will keep checking her to make sure things don't get all tense again. Progress is so slow.

I don't want to put her in with my other geese and ducks till I know she can walk well enough to get out of the way. She and her gander are at least able to visit the rest of my flock through the fence so when they finally do get together I am hoping things go smoothly. It is so frustrating having an injury take so much time to heal but I am sure she will be fine in the end.

With all the care your giving her I think she'll be fine. How are they all acting through the fence/

They are doing pretty good. The ganders occasionally try to bite each other through it. Sort of a beak to beak little mini fight. They could barely reach each other until now when I expanded the area for the new geese again as she is able to move better. Now they could do a bit more as some of the new fence section is more open and they would be able to get their heads/necks through to the other side. Everything so far is going well with that.

The girls like to eye each other and the others gander through the fence. The new gander, Mr. Goose, is much more docile then my first gander River. So River tells him he is boss and Mr. Goose backs away and goes back to his girl. I have no idea how they will do with nothing between them. They hardly ever hiss at each other now but the neck trembling thing still happens when the new ones are near River on the other side of the fence.

River is pretty good with my ducks and knows a few commands like "be nice" and "move on" and "quietly" so when I do introduce them in the same area I am hoping they will do well and I can keep control of the situation. I will have a hose ready when I do let them in together though. I do worry though about Mrs. Goose not being able to get away with her hopping so I am giving her the time she needs, even if it is frustratingly slow.

Anyone have any tips other then the meeting and getting used to each other through the fence like I am already doing for them?

I think the way your doing it is the best way, and giving Mrs Goose some extra time will be best for her too. I know my Muscovy girls like to bully my new goose and she isn't injured.
