She does a great job packaging, too. Of the 16 she SHIPPED me, 13 are still going. That's AMAZING considering the PO had them!

I have a quick question- have you done any test breeding with a confirmed lavender, not porcelain, cock to see if the bird really carries dilute? I didn't think this would be an issue in 'porcelains' at all until I did test breeding. Oi. Shocking results.

Hello! Good question! I have only been breeding porcelains for 2 years now and their genetics just amaze me! I have several porcelain hens in with a porcelain cock. I do throw a few diluted buff to breed back to(when porcelain starts to fade) and then back to porcelain. I have found my breeding results pretty consistent. Of course, I won't lie and say I NEVER get an off color--that's the interesting discovery with breeding a project color and a fairly new one at that!

Here's a few pics I just took a few minutes ago--these are all still babies from my porcelain pen(between 3-5 months old)--they are out enjoying the weather before it starts raining. **note--PLEASE ignore their messy heads and faces! I just gave them treats of watermelon, grapes, and sliced apples on Tuesday and they obviously thoroughly enjoyed it--they are SO much prettier when they are clean, but my silkies are also spoiled and I REFUSE to make their lives miserable just to keep them clean!

The good news is that they clean up well!!

And not all of them will make the cut--they're still in the, "awkward teenager stage!!!** Can't wait till they molt!!!

Well yes, I would imagine 'porcelain' to 'porcelain' begets 'porcelain' as I've seen in some lines.... but I was talking to Karen and she hadn't tried hers under a lavender cock. Under a lavender cock, I wonder what you would get? I know what happened in my case...

What happened?

You might want to post your questions in the, "Breeds, Genetics, & Showing" section. This Auction thread seems to be getting off topic. Thanks!
