ANYWAY:
Bonnie here, from north central Washington, about 6 miles from the Canadian border. I retired from the Navy in 2006, moved here in 2007 with the DH onto what was a horse pasture and started building our little place. It's still not entirely finished, but I just didn't want to wait any longer to raise a few chickens for really fresh eggs.

I got my first ever peeps on the first of April, and I've been a broody my own self since! 5 Americaunas, 5 Cochins and 6 Barred Rocks, and I can already see some of their personality traits by breed. It's amazing how they just hit the deck running and know what to do!! The second morning, I put some feed in my hand and held it low in the brooder. One of the Cochins jumped up and started scratching the food around! Hilarious, since she fell over after two attempts!

I found BYC a couple months ago when I first started playing with the idea of raising my own peeps and I was looking for coop requirements and plans. The info here is just wonderful, but I didn't come to the forum side until I got my peeps. I was missing out on even MORE great info! Ya'll are awesome.

We came over here from Bangor, Wa with just one young rescued Shepard mix very aptly named Loki. Before we had even moved out of our 30 year old motor home, we had acquired a kitten, Skaadi, from a back alley in town; then a golden / spaniel mix, Chance, from under a car salesman's office trailer. Can't forget the Chihuahua I inherited from my dad last year: Meagan's the old lady of the house. We've also rescued 2 horses, Rami and Freaking Bob, Man. Yes, that's really his name, but we just call him 'Bob'.

I guess the peeps are the only animals here that have ANY idea of their origin!! REALLY looking forward to this project, and the leedle ladies in their leedle brooder are just so funny, I can't wait to start seeing their individual personalities.

Thanks again for all the help and info, BYC and crew!

So glad you decided to come to the forum! Love the name "Loki"------I kind of wanted to name one of our cats that, but was vetoed by the kids. His name is Jerry----and I hate to admit this, but he was named after Jerry Springer.
