Gosling Adoption by Geese Question

Ganders typically adopt babies much faster than females. I would not assume they are painful squeals, but is rather just the reaction I was describing. Totally normal behavior. If it were me, I'd leave them alone with the adults to sort it out. It takes time and is stressful, but the longer you leave them be, the quicker they will all adjust.

Thanks. She is doing better this time around. She seems to want to lead them into the pen where the nesting boxes are. They are not interested yet - too much exploring to do!

So, by this evening she was lowering her head and attacking a couple of them! Looked like the gander coming at me!

They are in a cage in the pen so they can be protected from predators but also with the adult pair safely. The gander is sitting next to the cage. Tomorrow the will go back in their pen in the pasture and have some release time in the afternoon.
