I am new to the world of poultry. An still learning as I go. I have 2 male tufted roman geese about a week old plus a few days. As the more I spend time with them the more curious my 7 yr old female german Shepard becomes. I have let her come visit them with me a few times. Some times she sniffs the brooder, or checks out the goslings gives then a quick lick and lays down close by. She is a VERY sweet dog. (As long she sees you as fam) for example we used to have pet rats. She would protect them from our other dogs!

My question is when and how should I let them meet. I am assuming the look but no touch method. I dont want my goslings to pick on her when they are older. (Or our other dogs)

Dogs and geese can be friends, “I have a female Roman that considers our 130 lb boerboel her little brother and protects him.” The sooner you introduce them the better, geese see anyone who spends a lot of time with them as family, anyone who doesn’t spend a lot of time with them can be seen as a potential rival or annoyance, especially ganders come breeding season when they’ll start feeding off of each other’s energy.
Of course supervision is necessary. If they bond you’ll have no issues, come breeding season you may see them trying to mount everything from themselves to the dog so you might need to take particular care that it doesn’t turn into a fight.
