So maybe a dumb question but do I feed my gosling just the duck starter crumbles or do I mix it with the oats like I do with the ducks?
It’s my only gosling and a French Toulouse if that is any difference. Everything I read is grass and well we have some here but he has a URI so we are in lock down and antibiotics so going outside all day is not ideal currently.

Just the waterfowl starter will be fine, though if you can pick some grass and bring it in for him to munch, he will appreciate it :)

Do you have other geese that he will get to be with when he grows up? If not, you should start looking for another gosling for him to be with.

I heard not sure if it's TRUE or not that geese wont even lay eggs without a mate and they can become very depressed easily
Keep in mind I have never had geese before so i dont know if this is true or not

They will lay eggs, but yes, they absolutely need to be with other geese, regardless of if there are other species of birds they will be living with.

I haven't done geese, but usually when I read about cutting feed with oats its to bring down the protein content. If your protein is higher than ideal then yes its a good idea, if not then I wouldn't worry about it. Also depends on the growth stage, at the beginning you usually want the higher protein, but as you bird ages you can cut down the protein to a more ideal level for their age.

My understanding is geese are more vegetable / grass eaters than any other waterfowl. So it makes sense to me to that their ideal protein requirements would be lower than most other birds, hence cutting it with something like oats might be a good idea. I have also seen some people replace the straw bedding with hay so that animals like yours can supplement their grass needs.

That’s what I thought. I have ducks and I had to put oats so hence why I asked. Thank you. :)
I do have a sheet of grass inside for him but wasn’t sure about the ratio I needed to mix on food.

Offer some shredded romaine lettuce if he can't get out and graze.
I do have the grass in the house I grew for him currently but I wasn’t sure about mixing the food. I know with ducks there is the ratio you mix oats with protein and I have been so consumed with taking care of him medically not realizing he is eating full protein. Thank you for the help I will add in some small Romain in today for an extra green and side.
