I noticed 1 of my 10 five week old goslings has what look like eyelashes that are always wet. None of the other goslings has anything like this. When I examined him (could be a her as not sexed yet) this afternoon, I could see that the eyelashes were small feathers. When I pulled on them VERY gently, I could see that they were rooted in a lumpy base INSIDE the eyelid. I will call my vet tomorrow, but I wanted to try to find out if this condition has a name, so I could do a little research. This gosling is HUGE and seemingly very healthy and active. The eyes look okay, but I am guessing that these feathers are irritating the eyes, since the feather "eyelashes" are always wet looking.

don't have any answers for you. hope you can get it fixed.

I know in dogs it's called entropia where the lid curls inward and the eyelashes rub the eye, this kind of abrasion does cause eye problems so I imagine the feathers will do the same.

My eight week old gosling has the same problem in one eye. None of the other three have any in their eys. I started noticing it around 4 weeks old but it doesn't seem to cause her any problem. I actually was able to take scissors one night when she was sleeping soundly and clipped a little bit off so it wasn't so long. Let me know if you find out from your vet what can be done in case it causes eye problems later.

I'm having the same thing with my muscovy duckling. She is about 4 weeks old also. It looks like ingrown eyelash but it is feathers. It was rubbing on her eye it can old when I gave it a little tug. That was 2 days ago tonight it was back there is a small bump on the inside of her eyelid.

My Roman tufted goose has the same problem. I’ve been plucking them out and using eye antibiotic but it’s not getting better. Did anyone get any diagnosis information treatment for this?
