Gosling hisses when I pick her up

My 6 week old gosling hisses at me whenever I pick her up even though shes not scared of eating from my hand. I pick her up slowly and I don't stand up when I pick her up because I heard that they don't like it when you pick them up from on top. I just scoop her up.

It sounds like you are doing the right things, but in my experience, some geese are just hissy.

I have two American Buffs that I got when they were days old. Gussie will allow me to pick her up, Golly would rather I never touch her. She hisses, and I ended up with a black eye once when I took a massive wing to the face.

I have learned to ALWAYS hold those wings down tightly when I have to pick up a goose -- which I try to avoid as much as possible. Leading them with a handful of feed or their favorite treats is safer for me.
