Gosling With No Lower Bill

Im so sorry to hear of the litle ones problems... It so sad when they go through such a long incubation..pip...and then heartbreak.

Im sure it must not have been an easy thing to do- But probably for the best. You can manage some disabilities...but in this little ones case- it would have needed a lot of time and care to survive.

I think you find that those artificial/repaired bills were done with UV curing resin of the type used by dentists to put fillings in teeth where they would show. The advantage is that the material hardens quickly under intense UV light. Amd despite what is posted above they are MORE likely to survive with a lower bill than an upper bill. With the lower bill they can spoon up food and water and then tilt their head up to swallow. Many chickens have part of their upper bill removed (debeaked) to prevent pecking when raised in close quarters. If it were mine I would cull it since there is no way it could live a normal happy life.
