Gosling with open wound on neck

hello!

Unfortunately some chickens got into my pen for the goslings and ducklings. They got a hold of one of the goslings, and left a good sized wound on its neck.

How should I go about treating it? Should I leave it opened? Or try to glue the skin back together?

No glue.
Just keep it clean.
Saline wash and antibiotic ointment.
Maybe trim the down away from edges of wound.
Keep it away from flies... and other birds that will bother wound.

With the wound being that deep, I'd probably try to wrap it w/ gauze and athletic tape if it was mine. Just to keep flies and debris out of it for awhile until it can scab over.

I would leave it open, and use plain Neosporin or Triple Antibiotic Ointment twice a day, just as Aart said. These type of wounds are common, and usually heal well.
