Hello all. I currently have a Toulouse gosling who seems like she could have respiratory issues. She is constantly shaking her head, sneezing, snorting, and flinging liquid( a mix of water and snot I believe) out of her nose and mouth. She is 3ish weeks old. This is my first time with geese and I don’t know if these are mannerisms or a problem. Thanks for any help! ( also if anyone had tips for integrating geese into a duck/chicken flock it’d be super helpful:))

3 weeks is a might young to be putting a gosling in with a resident flock without time for everyone to get to know each other through fencing. Is she in a brooder now inside? Especially if she is sick. She needs to be kept warm and given plenty of liquids with some electrolytes/vitamins in her water. If you can put up a video of how she is that will help. Are you sure she didn't swallow something she shouldn't have? if it's respiratory she will probably need an antibiotic.

She’s in a brooder in the house-I am just preparing to put her out there. Due to unfortunate circumstances she is alone (please no negative comments, I’m doing my best to find her a gosling friend but the gosling season is over so it’s very hard) and so I’m prepping her to go out there so at least she’ll have companions. I don’t think she could have eaten something wrong.... we adopted her 2 days ago so it is possible.

As long as the gosling is showing any type of respiratory distress I wouldn't put her out with the flock. She needs to be kept where she won't chill or be in contact with other birds until you are sure she is over whatever this is.

How is the gosling today?

She is good today-I did put her with the ducks( I had thought about that but she so desperately wants someone to be with her) and I’m gone in the afternoons. She is doing good out there. She seems to love the company. So yes I did think about the possible risk of infection since she’s only quarantined for 2 days. But I can’t give her the constant company she needed.

Oh and I saw no sneezing today. But I had thought about the fact that maybe her sneezing was like the ducks snorting water through their noses to clean them. I am new to geese so maybe that’s just the way she does that. No wheezing or coughing either

I was very busy worrying today; I really wanted to quarantine her and keep my ducks safe from any possible sickness but she LOVED having everybody. When I put her in her brooder this evening she was exhausted! Such a sleepy girl from all that playing
