Hello!
I ordered 10 ducklings and a pair of goslings. My goslings will be arriving a week after the ducklings. Can I still put them together so they are raised together or will they need to be separated because of the week difference?
Oh and one more thing, can the goslings eat the same food as the ducklings?

Thanks

I have a single gosling that hatched a week and a half ago, and she is living with my 2 week old chicks (2 of which are bantams). I hated to see the gosling alone, so I figured it was worth a try. I kept a close eye on them to be sure they got along, and so far they are one big happy family. I think it all depends on the particular goose. Just keep a watchful eye over any new additions. You will know if you need to separate them or not!

Last year I got a wild Canada goose whom I raised alone for a little over a week. Then I recieved 4 baby ducks. The goose thought I was her momma and cried when I left her in the pen. After I put the ducks in with the goose the ducks thought the goose was their momma and followed her everywhere. They weren't lonely after that! They were all one big happy family! As they grew the goose and ducks would both copy each others traits, it was really cute! In the fall time my goose flew away so I don't know how they would get along in the future (and during mating time) but when they were young everything was great!

If I was going to mix them (and I would try it) it's better that the ducks are older. The geese will catch up in size quickly.

Chances are very good they will get along. Their needs and habits are similar (in fact I found goslings outgrowing the need for heat faster than ducks, so again it's better that the ducks are older. As suggested just watch them, especially for chewing problems, but I'd expect they'd be fine together. Make sure they have enough space and things to keep them busy.

I purchased 10 ducks and then another 4 ducks with a pair of geese and after about two days of being brooded by themselves i put them all together and they have done wonderful. they are now 4 and 3 weeks old

Thanks everyone for the comments and suggestions. I feel better now and am hopeful they will all get along like one big feathered family!

Not for nothing but I think geese make the best babysitters! Even if they are a day old. What instincts they have. I have my two 2 week old baby geese with 3 chicks that are 4 days older then the geese and 1 that is about 3 days younger. The chicks think the geese are the parents. So cute.

I have 8 ducklings and 2 goslings together and they get along fine. They are 10 days old. I tried seperating them today and they all cried so I had to put them back together. From the day they arrived the ducklings would crawl up under the goslings to sleep. They are all growing so fast. Mine all eat the same food which is purina start and gro. I put them out on the grass today for the first time.
