Hello every body. My first post on the forum.
Can anyone give me urgent advice.
My trio of Toulouse geese produced 4 goslings in their first breeding year.
They hatched at the end of April.
Over the last three days one has been unable to get up and walk. This morning two others have the same problem.
Due to them escaping from the pasture I have kept them confined in the yard the last two weeks.
They have been getting grain as they wish but not much grass. Could this be the problem and if so how can I safely rectify it?
They seem to be chirpy enough and drinking and eating the grass I give them.
I would welcome any advice.
Regards
Martyn

It maybe a niacin deficiency one way to find out and most likely it is , is to get some plain niacin not flush free or time released, you may have to ask the pharmacist for it, and start adding it to their water 100-150 megs to 1 gallon of water, or Brewers yeast sprinkled over their feed, 1 Tab to 1 cup of feed. per day. Seems water fowl especially during the fast growing part can get in to trouble if they can't get the proper amt of niacin in their diet. also supplementing with Kale and other niacin rich foods can help. Usually only takes less than a week to notice improvement if it's niacin. and

I completely agree with Miss L about the niacin. It is amazing what a difference can be made when it's added. I do have another question about their behavior. Was the mother/mothers taking care of these goslings when they were in the pasture?

Hello folks.
Thanks for the replies and the advice. I just called my wife to get some Niacin from the Pharmacy.
The question about the mothers. Yes they are very good mothers but they were going off on walks in very rough ground. Hence the confinement.
I will keep you posted of the results.
Cheers
Martyn
