I have 2 goslings and 8 ducklings. We have caught the goslings nip the ducklings when drinking water. Is this normal and will this cause fatal harm to a duckling? Btw The goslings are bigger than the ducklings.

How much nipping? Is it constant? Does it seem like the goslings are being territorial over the water and not letting the ducklings have any?

The ducklings are able to still get some water but the goslings seem to be territorial over it.

From what I witnessed the nip seemed like a light nip but I didn't know if it would get worse

When young goslings can be quite bossy over their food, and water sources and may occasionally pick at ducklings that are smaller in size. When housing ducklings, and goslings, environmental considerations need to be made to ensure there is plenty of feed, and water sources, and that there is plenty of space for each bird to roam around in. A small secluded brooder, with little feed/water dishes, will promote such negative behavior.

If the behavior escalates, they may need to be separated.
