Are your geese laying ?!

I don't actually have geese yet/anymore. I used to several years ago. But it was an inherited flock, and they all passed away over time. Pretty sure they were all mixed breeds, but I know there was some Toulouse in there and some Embdens. I'm getting back in to it though by getting hatching eggs - all sebbies! The first set was shipped, and has detached air cells, so I'm not very hopefully on those. They are developing (thus my red spiders) but I'm worried about pipping and all. The next set will be local and should be ready any day, and I'll have MUCH more hope with those!

what kind of goose breeds do ye have?!
Mine are due 27th this month ! Mine will be first! :D XD

Well, I dunno! Moose hatched on day 28. I could still 'pip' you at the post. (Did you see what I did there?) ;)

This was the advert. So I'm quite excited to see what I will get!
"FOUR MIXED GOOSE EGGS FROM MY FLOCK OF 20 FREE RANGING GEESE.
THE MAJORITY ARE EMBDEN BUT INCLUDES SOME BUFF BACK , BRECON BUFF AND ONE SEBATAPOL GANDER."

Miss hennypenny haha i dont know if it counts -_- haha
oh and Lgress i hope your eggs hatch!!!!!!! Best of luck !
I love this time of the year

Just got through seperating my geese, got everyone where i want them. I penned stormy my tufted chinese up with the white tufted chinese gander(unrelated) after 10 days i will check fertility and then incubte the rest of the eggs she will lay whilw in with him. Hoping for a pied with more white or a dilute but really any gosling from the pair will be very spoiled. I have had this pairing in mind since they hatched.

UGH! If these three sebbie eggs that I have in the incubator actually hatch, they will be named Miracle, Hope, and Wonder.

Not only do all three have detached air cells, but (I knew this would happen too) I left the incubator open to do the misting/cooling for 15 minutes, and just now put the lid back down..... SIX HOURS LATER. According to the thermometer IN the incubator, they went down to 77 degrees.

Yikes!

Mother Nature is determined NOT to let me hatch these three. I've got 5 or 6 more coming that I'm pretty confident about, but these three have just been through hell and back again, and they haven't even been in for a full week!

So if they do actually hatch, they will be named Miracle, Hope, and Wonder - I don't care if they're all boys!

When i cool my eggs i set my timer on my phone so when it goes off i know to go put the lid down and i have it with me all the time. Before that i carried a little white oven timer around with me when i took the lid off id turn the dial take it with me then when it went off i would go put the lid down and sit the timer on top of the lid so i wouldnt forget it next time. If i dont do something like that i forget every time lol

I'm setting my very 1st batch of goose eggs tonight! They are Cotton Patch Geese, all shipped. No air cells completely detached but some are a bit wiggly. Hope I get this right!

letting them cool to long will not make a huge difference, the detached aircells are your concern. good Luck

for babies. All goose eggs start incubation on Monday to check for fertilization. yes I know I could eat them but I like babies. I'll get plenty of eggs to eat, sale and hatch if the dewlaps are fertile this year.
