Goslings of 2014 Hatch-a-long

All these adorable pictures are getting me excited.  My broody buff dewlap is on day 10-11 and my broody African is on day 4, so the earliest possible goslings here wont' be for another 3 weeks.  My Muscovy is at the halfway point.  I'm doubtful her eggs are fertile, but we'll be keeping an eye out for babies, just in case.

Are you able to check the eggs at all when they are with broodys? I would have thought you wouldn't get near them often? I guess the good thing about incubating them artificially is how much more you can be involved and check development.

My scovy's nest is tucked deep under my front porch and I cannot get to it, but I plan to candle my buff dewlap's eggs this evening with my husband's help. I'm sure my goose will be quite upset.

i love those very light colours! Remmber that you thought they werent gonna hatch because they had detached aircells! Look babies!

Exactly! That plus the 6-hour cooling period that one day. But that is why they are named Miracle, Hope, and Wonder!

Oh wow i'm having such a special moment.

I think Moose likes her. He was nuzzling her and now I have Moose in my lap, baby snuggled into my neck and we're having a good old conversation between the 3 of us.

They're much more dependant than chickens, eh? Last year's chicks couldn't have cared less about me. They had each other and food!

They´re so totally different to chickens. Great, isn´t it?

Aw look at my big handsome boy! And barely 6 weeks old!
Everyone needs a house goose!

So will that be baby geese or baby mosquito eaters?

Depends on the goose. I have 2 that are no problem, I can put my hand right under them, and the others I keep an eye out for when they´re off the nest and have a quick look when they´re otherwise engaged!

p.s. I think maybe your baby is part Buff Back, which is a saddleback, giving her the pied colouring.. She´ll be gorgeous when she grows, even more if she´s a pied, which she appears to be. Oh, I do hope she´s a she.
