Haha Miss Lydia Same here my brown Africans are developing huge brown feathers while my buff Africans are developing huge pinkish brown Feathers.Are only Sloppy Joe is molting his back feathers of the two buffs but all my goings are molting their neck featheand

I didnt realize that the babies molted so young. I knew that ducks molted in the fall. (i read somewhere that some molt twice) maybe this is why there are soo many muscovy feathers all over my yard

Been a long time to have gosling this age serv I had forgot how often they molt. Looking forward to what they all look like when finished.  And the voice changing is dramatic right now too.

Haha yea for you it must be very odd and yea mine are starting to break their voices for the 3rd time XD

My Muscovy's are starting to molt. the pool today looked like a Muscovy lost all it's feathers.
Ii expected to see a naked Scovy running around.

They don't molt fully because they do not molt their wing feathers they loose the neck feathers (which are not really feathers before molting their)Goslings molt about 4 weeks after their fully feathered from the fluffy stage and brown or grey or buff coloured will look a lot darker.
You will not notice the white type goslings molt only on the neck and the lavender. coloured goslings will loose the grey colour and replaced by white type feathers but if you are lucky the the lavender. feathers stay

remember i old you a few days ago that i thought the males were pulling out all the feathers? well i separated all three males in their own coops and they are the ones losing the feathers. so when they molt, do they just pluck them out or do they fall out like a winter coat on a dog?

Neck feathers and feathers on their chest are falling out too. They kinda remind me of a cloud the way they look right now.

They just fall out on their own. I mean they may preen and they fall out but I have never seen mine deliberately pull their own feathers out.

Okay guys. My husband is going to build me an inside/night time coop for forest. It will be similar to a dog crate but made for a goose. (you all know our situation =) I would like to build to to the specs of her being an adult just incase she stays an inside bird for her entire life. can anyone give me a suggestion on dimensions?

also, I discovered something today when we were out feeding the geese. she stands up to the drakes and screams when the girls pick on her?????


i saw something else interesting today. one of the mean drakes was preening harry, another young drake?? he has always been mean to harry... why would he be preening him?
