I did 20 Cornish this spring .I order 100 for the fall . Just wondering if anybody had tips .I planed on selling some of the chicks but I am going to get ready if I can't sell any of as chicks .Probly try and buy food buy the pallet if I can get it cheaper. I am going to use moveable coops .Too just thought I would see what tips anybody that has grow this many before has.

I like your idea of pallet buying. My supplier sells by the bag or by e ton minimum. Perhaps you can save more money if you make a bunk silo BUT ONLY IF IT IS WEATHER TIGHT.

I like that you will move the pen daily. I didn't like the build upof material where I penned my few ( 14) birds as they didn't move much and only one are became terribly soiled and the rest totally unused. I have the next 14 in a larger area and in a barn this time. THe wooden floor helps to keep the area dry and they use all of the space.

I also fed fermented feed to my first batch and the poos were better. HOwever they do grow slower. THis second batch I will give fermented feed as a once a day supplement. ( 4 qts pelleted feed, 1 cup unpasturized apple cider vinegar and water nearly to the top of 5 gal pail; stir 2-3 times a day)

100 is a lot of birds. THe amount of water they use is staggaring. Have you thought about how you will supply their water? Perhaps a nipple water system using 4 inch pipe with an attached bucket to pour into?? Just a thought, havent tried it myself.

good luck

Yeah I only have 1 gal waters right going to have get something bigger or think of put a 5 gallon bucket on top of the cage and hook it up to the top .in the heat a group of 15 was drinking like 3 or 4 gallons a day

Yup-- you have a big challenge to over come. You might figure a way to collect rain water using the roof of your tractor/coop.

I was thinking a looooong plastic pipe with nipple waterers along an inside wall, like the entire length, on two sides ( assuming a chicken tractor) and top with a 5 gal bucket on each side. WIth a lid for each to keep out unwanteds. A means of carrying out two other 5 gal buckets 2 times a day. again just a thought going thr my head. lol

My local feed mill has 22% protein game bird feed at $ 452 dollars a ton . I might use that for feed.

They are they shipped 104 total 2 had there legs caught in a piece a string other wise they are looking pretty good I got them from myers hatchery
