Got 2 ducklings from the feed store - help?

Very cute! :love For breeds, I would say Pekin left, possibly Rouen on the right? Do you know what breeds the store carries? As for gender, females quack, while drakes make a noise like Donald Duck. You can tell by voice sexing when they are, what, 6-8 weeks? Im no expert, so please check my answers against someone else.

OMG that would be so great if we had a duck that sounded like Donald!! Haha! Right now they just peep and cheep so I guess in a month or two we'll have to see.

I think the Pekin is correct from what I've Googled and seen on the forums. The other one kinda looks like a Rouen but also kinda looks like the Khaki kind? Here's a closer shot of the face:

I know that our feed store gets their chicks from Privett Hatchery. I should call and ask about the ducks.

So the good news is they survived the night in a sectioned off space in the coop with the heating pad. They were not happy about the dark so we put a sokar light near them. They still weren't pleased (lots of angry cheeping) but eventually they settled in and they were up and about this morning without issue. Chickens seem wary - the darker duck (Pepper for now) doesn't tolerate them looking too closely. LOL

Very nice looking ducklings. At first I thought the dark one might be a khaki Campbell based on what my local store carries. After blowing up the image, not sure.

Khaki campbells are pure chocolate brown. No stripes
The only other breed i have seen with some stripes like that are golden 300 ducklings.

Oh my goodness. That first video of the ducklings' first bath is beyond adorable!!!

And that water... pit??.. in the 2nd video is such a great idea! We may have to adopt it when the ducks get bigger!

In the interim, my husband fashioned a duckling water fountain that has a constant cycling stream of water. I'll get a pic tomorrow.
Right now the sun has set and because we are using a heating pad and not a lamp, it is dark and the ducklings are freaking out!!! Ugh...

The "water pit" is just a 9 gallon pool liner from the hardware store - I think Lowes. We dump it out and replace it with fresh water every morning. The ducks now have 2 of those in their pen because when our new drake was sequestered in one half of the pen he of course had to have his own water and now that the girls are aware that they can have TWO POOLS in the pen, we are afraid they will revolt if we take the second pool out.

So then of course we had to buy a small kiddie pool for in the garden because they HAVE to have swimming water while foraging. (Though watching a full-grown Cayuga attempt to take a bath in a plastic dishpan was HILARIOUS!!!)

That photo is adorable!!!!!!!!! ! They look so cute, all having fun by their fancy pond! I won't show that photo to my ducks, though, or they would start demanding a fancy pond too.
