Ah, it must be a lot warmer in Alabama than NC right now. It never crossed my mind that you found him outside this time of year. I just assumed someone gave him to you. Good for you for putting him back.

Thank you for putting him back. The populations of these critters are in so much danger in so many places, yet not well enough protected. My own little guy came to me because of habitat destruction. His home turf was being razed. Not much chance he would have survived in acres of concrete. Otherwise, I'd have never put him into captivity. There is a possibility he could outlive me -- in which case my son will care for him, I am sure.

Is it true that if you count the rings or lines on the shell, and that will tell you how old the turtle is, like the rings on a cut tree?
