Ok so my hen is broody again... day and night just sitting.. so I went to check on them and one of my others was in the nest with her. I have two nesting boxes and 3 hens. But for some reason they are just use the one...So the broody one hogs up the one they all use. It has affected the amount of eggs I get now. How the heck can you get them to use the other nest ??

Any Suggestions ?

I am not worried about my broody hen.. she can set if she wants.. I get her out and let her roam the yard almost every day without a problem. I just wish they would use the other nest and start laying again like they normally do...

Has anyone ever seen their hens share a nest ?? its pretty funny...I have never seen it before.

I have 8 nesting boxes and 2 broody hens, and 6 hens altogether. I am having to regularly check the nest of one broody because another hen will get in there with her and lay eggs. The other broody is not willing to share.

I"m not sure how to stop that one other than completely moving her or fixing it so the others can't get in, but then she can't get out. They should be hatching tomorrow! I'm so excited.

so I am wondering if there is a way to get the chickens to use the other nest ??

Ive tried switching them rearranging them... nothing works !!! ahhhh

Ours shared the nest with the broody one, too. One was actually laying an egg on her back:lol:

We finally moved her just a few days before the babies hatched so we could start getting eggs again. She had all kinds of eggs under her from all the other chickens. Fortunately we know which were the ones she was supposed to be on.
