~Got A Happy Hatchery, Story, Service, Etc??? Post Your Happy HERE!!!

ordering small customer orders is great, exspecailly if you dont have a lot of space. Meyer Hatchery has a minumum order of 3 birds. And if you do only order 3 they dont pack your box with roosters they use great little heat packs and extra padding!

I have ordered 3 times over the last 2 years from Hoover hatchery out of rudd iowa and have been very pleased, all birds have arrived on time and very healthy and happy, their customer service is the best

I just received my order from Cackle. It took about a month for my order to be sent, but they arrived 2 days after being shipped. I ordered 18, received 19, and all arrived alive and healthy. They are adorable. My family used to order every year from Murray McMurray and never had a problem with them, either. I switched to Cackle because MMM didn't have the breeds I wanted available.

This is my first ever post. A year ago my husband picked up 6 chickens from a local source that he called "the chicken lady." We wanted to get 6 Rhode Island Red hens for egg production. What we got was 5 roosters and a hen that is either a Production Red or a New Hampshire Red. She definately is not a Rhode Island. ( She is a good layer and we still love her.) After the birds grew and we knew we had 5 roosters, we kept one rooster and the hen, and started to look online for people who knew what they were selling. I wanted a few hens (that were actualy hens) and did not want to order from a place that had a minimum requirement on the number of birds that I had to get. After a lot of research and thought, I went with Ideal Poultry. I placed an order on 6/13/09 for 12 pullets. The order was confirmed to ship on 6/17/09. I got an email that said with small orders they may add boys for warmth. I did not want any more boys! I called and asked them about it and they added extra straw for warmth in place of boys. The order was shipped on 6/17/09 just like they said. On 6/18/09, at 6:03 am (local time in MA) my post office called and said the chicks had arrived!!!! Boy am I a happy camper right now. The service at Ideal was great.
1. I got birds that have been sexed by a professional and not by the local "chicken lady"

2. I did not get any boys for warmth that I really did not want.
3. The order was shipped on the promised date
4. I did not have to order a huge number of birds to meet minimum order requirements.
5. My order arrived super fast. From Texas to my home in Massachusetts in a day!!!
6. All of the pulletts arrived happy, healthy and lively. They did not seem overly stressed by shipping.

7. All of the pullets are doing quite well and I was impressed with the quality of the birds. They may not be show birds, but I just need some friendly, happy egg layers, not a blue ribbon bird.

I would highly recomend Ideal Poultry to any one who is lookng for a place to obtain a small flock.

(Just a side note....... I would have ordered from Ideal earlier in the year, but I did not want to ship babies from ANYWHERE during the cold winter months. I purposely waited for summer to place my order and they had the pullets I wanted, when I wanted to order them.) I hope that my story helps any one who is thinking about ordering from Ideal Poultry.

I also love Ideal especially when I am just wanting a few birds of each breed and my total may be less than 25. Dont get me wrong I like Meyer, Mt Healthy, and Welp but Ideal is by far my fav.

Also : WELCOME TO BYC!!!

Hey there,

I got my order from Cackle yesterday and am very happy with the chicks I got.
I ordered 5 Royal Palm turkeys a & 10 Easter Eggers.
There was 1 extra that was DOA, but all the others are beautiful and doing real good.
Beautiful assortment of colors in the Easter Eggers also!

Take Care,
Bill.
