Today I thought that I was going down to the duck pond to get the 2 Indian Runners that where just dropped off and let there. Well I had got there with my boyfriend and brother and the ducks where impossible to get! When we had arrived we walked past the make shift shelters and a huge male scovie poked his head out and ran into a shrub. Well after an hour trying to get the runners I had asked the guy from the church (they own the land with the pond) if I can have the scovie. The story with the scovie is that he and a female where dropped off a couple years ago and they had nests. A couple of months ago the female was kidnapped by someone and was never seen again. He said it would be great for us to give him a much better home with a female then to see him there constantly searching for his lost love. So we got this very large scovie and took him home. My other ducks first reaction was pretty funny. Normally my male runner would run up to a new male duck and go neck to neck to show him his place... he didnt this time. They all ran towards the scovie and then ran away and did that odd neck stretch and look to the side deal at him. So I let the others out to the pond and let him get a feel for the cage. My female who is on a nest right now was peeping and he keep looking for where it was comming from. Hopefully they will love each other! When I was bringing the others from the cage he followed them right into the house and into a cage inside. Well that went over like a fart in church! We have a dog crate thats in 2 to be used for 2 cages for the calls, rouens, cayougas and baby runners. He ran into the end one and then the others that where in with him hopped into the next one over. So I had to put the rouens and cayougas in with the adult runners. The scovie then decided to purch in the middle and call himself king. He was beaking the ones below him when they would start quacking. LOL but I had to take care of it. So I was trying to catch this large duck in the lower part of the house with our puppy trying to get a look at this new thing thats in her house. The scovie had nipped the puppy and gave her some manners! Haha. Hes in his own area for now until everyone gets a little bit more used to each other.

Just wanted to share my first expirence with a large scoive :).

I was going to grab a couple photos either tomarrow or saturday. My camera is mia (I have a way of misplacing everything!!!) and my brother lost my Moms camera. So, I need to borrow my Bf's camera!

And just to update-

He has found the female scovie and has been sitting near where she is and seems to be watching over her. He has also found the pond and seems to be getting along with the other ducks a bit better :)

Hes flapping away! With my female call next to him on the right.

Your new boy is very pretty as are all your ducks.. when is your duck due to hatch her eggs?

Aren't you worried about having the calls in with that very large muscovy? Pretty ducks.

Well, I have the 2 calls in with everyone. They are small enough to fit through the one fence we have for the front. So when they feel they can leave the cage and go into the yard or go from the yard into the cage as they please. The runners have a tendancey to run into peoples yard when unattended so thats why we even have the caged during the day :) The Scovie hes just so large compared to everyone else that I have and he sits on the rock and watches for Birds and seems to alert everyone when needed :D
