Hi,

Our two birds passed away so we got a new one, 20wk old hen, and put her in a second coop.

Her nose is running. She sounds like shes purrings. She also cough alot. She goes outside, eats and drink and her poop is normal.

What can we do to stop this "cold"? Can it be dangerous for her?

Thanks!

Go to Tractor Supply Co and buy Tylan 50. Put a few drops of the Tylan 50 on the bread and give it to the hen for 5 days straight. Do Not eat the eggs while she is on the Tylan and wait 1 day after you take her off the Tylan before eating her eggs. She has a respiratory disease most likely and will be a carrier for life.

Welcome to BYC!

If you live in the US you could try Tylan 50 for cattle and swine, but it needs to be given orally at least twice a day. The Dose I would use is 0.5 ml per pound twice a day, and there is a vet that recommends 0.2 ml per pound every 6-8 hours.

Edited to correct dosing typos.
