Got Blue Kote in chicken eye

I have a 9 month old Barred Rock hen-she had been pecked at by another hen so we wanted to put some Blue Kote on her comb and head. When we did, she shook her head and got some in her eye! Her eyelid is blue now as are the corners of her eye. We tried to rinse out with a bit of water but I don't think that did much. Now she is rubbing her eye occasionally as she walks about. What can we do? Is this extremely serious?

I recommend you flush her eye out with saline solution asap. Blu-kote contains isopropyl alcohol and it's probably stinging/burning her eye.

Yes, rinse it out with saline as best you can, or water if you have no saline.

I did this with a chick last year, and its sight was fine. It should be okay!
