Got eggs?

I put some golf balls in my nesting box today, how long will it take before my hens get the concept if they do? Should I leave the balls in the nesting box until the lay or take them out in a few days?

Mine started laying 3 weeks ago and I still have the golf balls in the boxes I plan to leave them in there until they all get the drift, it won't hurt leaving them in there.

I would leave them in the place you most want them to lay eggs. They don't know the difference between a golf ball and an egg and the golf balls in the nest will signal the pullets or hens that - that location is a great spot to lay an egg.

Great, thank you. I have 5 hens , I am hoping they will all lay around the same time.
