Got Flogged by A rooster tonight

Al...you know if it's uncomfortable for a human, it just HAS to be uncomfortable for a chicken. How can you infer that this is not so??? After all, I feel most comfortable roosting on a 2x4 when I sleep and thrive well eating my neighbor's fecal matter on a daily basis. We're all the same, really.

Because when we are out in the chicken yard we talk to one another, you know we ask what we feel about that new fat hen with the frizzles, and how could that rooster even think she's hot. We wonder when we are going to get that mushy people food they think we like

, and how they give us the creeps when they think we don't feel good cause I am just tired of them picking me up and smooooching me

. This is what chickens think but we of course know better than they do

Yes it's true LOL upside down is fine. except the huggers think it is the most god awful treatment one could possibly imagine, and OMG what will the bird think of me then and will it need intensive therapy sessions afterwards so it will like me again. That sort of thought process is feeding the frenzy.

I ain't real sure; but I am begining to think things have changed and chickens are not livestock anymore but some kind of new fad toy for folks. Don't get me wrong i really like my chickens alot, but I spend so much of my time reading these posts and shaking my head in amazement, these folks after raising them for few decades will change the tune a little i am sure.

They won't still be raising them in a decade. They will tire of this new fad and go back to looking for the next big thing...remember pot bellied pigs, mini horses, alpacas, mini rabbits? It all goes away when you invest lots of money into a hobby and have to keep buying more because the animals die and you just keep doing it and they just keep dying and pretty soon you run out of burial space for little foofoo and all the roos you had to kill because they mysteriously became "aggressive".

Did you ever think you'd see chickens and rabbits at animal shelters and rescues? No... because, unlike dogs and cats, they can be turned into food as a legal option in the US.

In the long run you will see folks like us still raising them for their original purpose.....food.

How very true, I get headaches from shaking head so much LOL. I allways say that the pet chicken movement is the new black. Hen aprons, diapers, blinders, new feather breeds, little pretty painted toy coops, automatic openers so their owners don't have to actually go outside god forbid LOL. And we won't even get into the naming chickens craze, it is what it is as they say

I fail to see the need for diapers, blinders, raising chicks in the house . These are outdoor creatures let them live where they are supposed to give them a good coop for shelter & a place to lay their eggs so you don't have an easter egg hunt, & most importantly protection from chicken eating critters. But be a man or woman go let them out , put them up at night so you can check them out.
You don't have to hug on them or snuggle them to appreciate them. They give us breakfast & dinner. They have to be well treated to give you anything ! This JMHO.
