What's up with the marbles in the waterer?

Preventative measure. I have read it is good & i have read not to. It can't hurt so I stole some of my sons marbles for it, lol.

I frequently use marbles for the first several days also. Keeps the chicks from getting too wet.

Is there any way to tell what the EEs will look like when full grown by their colors as a chick? I have chipmunks, pale yellows & some wide spread dark ones. The kids each like a certain kind right now, but it would be nice to know how they grow up.
