Got my chicks at a feed store that uses McMurray

I just got off the phone with them and they use McMurray, and get there chicks sexed? I posted a pic of my SLW that was looking rooish, and the feed store says i shouldn't be worried?? Any help on how accurate McMurray is??

ive read here on byc that mcmurray has about a 90% rate for sexing. if the feed store sold a roo to you as a hen then i would take the roo back and get a new chick or your money back! unless of course you want a roo?

I'm not sure about McMurray specifically but most hatcheries have a 90% sexing rate. You could probably check their site and see what it says. I will say that out of the 15 I got a few months ago from them one turned out to be a cockerel.

^^ oh yes! That! I've never bought a chick from a feed store but they should replace it since they didn't sell you what they were supposed to.

It's a bit too soon to be sure. Give it another week or so. If that comb turns bright red, it's a boy. They can't guarantee 100% accuracy when sexing. No hatchery does. You have to go into raising chicks with the understanding that you could get a boy or two. Buying sexed chicks helps lower your odds of getting a boy, but it could still happen. That's just the way it is.

i dont know much about sexing id be in question about the little one too he almost seems like his little comb is more distinct then the one behind him but i know this has alot to do with the breed! it might take some time to really know! i bought two chicks a couple weeks back the lady at the farm i went to swore they were both female she was 99% sure....sure enugh ones a roo and he is getting so AGGRESSIVE! im taking him back today..
