Got my chicks today!

I am so excited! These are my first chickens. I got 2 Silkies, a Salmon Faverolle, and a barred rock/Amerucana! They are all about 5-6 weeks old. I can’t wait to watch them grow! We’ve got them in our garage now but plan on letting them spend a little time outside with us while we put the finishing touches on their run.
Any advice for a new chicken mama is appreciated!

That is happy news.

We will be getting new girls soon, our girls are six years old right now. We have to design the run different to keep the chicks safe from the older girls. The older girls were three weeks old years ago when we got them. Interesting story about the girls. Hubby wanted them picked them up and surprised me, he never told me he was getting these since, we already had six and then these made twelve girls six years ago. Only three left from the originals. We put the first six in the house in a spare room until they got bigger.

I use a wire dog crate as a grow out pen for my fully feathered chick's after get moved out of the brooder. That could be another idea for you.

The Salmon Faverolle and the barred rock/ameraucana I got are one week younger than the the silkies but have more feathers. Should I wait for the silkies to catch up and just take them all out at once?
