I'm a bit peaved at my step-father after giving him seven fresh eggs to cook up for him and my kids since they had spent the night this past weekend.

When he and my Mom dropped the kids off we asked how he liked the eggs and he replies "they made me sick" WTBleep! So I ask him what he means, did he not like the taste? He tells us that he didn't even eat them because the smell turned his stomach too much.

My kids ate em right up and said they were delicious as always and didn't smell anything. I've never noticed a "smell" to my eggs and certainly nothing that would turn my stomach. I was a bit defensive and insulted but hey, what can you do? Some people just don't get it.

Next time I'm at their house I'm gonna swap out some of his store bought eggs with a couple of my fresh ones and see if he notices. LOL

I would swap out the eggs, too! Let me know if he even notices!!
My husband was DEVOURING some chocolate zucchini cake last summer, and immediately spit it out when someone told him what was in it! He never complains about zucchini meatloaf! What he doesn't know...

Being pregnant, I have to say that fresh eggs do smell more strongly than store eggs-- I figure it's because we have more good stuff in there! I get sick when I eat store-bought eggs, though, and can eat the home ones fine.... er... when I'm not already sick from the pregnancy

Oh! I had a FIL like that once....

I swear the man did things just to hurt my feelings! In all seriousness though it is true that "our" eggs do have a different smell, but I think it is a good one. They smell and taste better and are better for you! I agree with swapping your step fathers eggs and see if he notices! I bet he doesn't!

I totally understand, mrsgibber...I took some eggs with me when I visited my mom...I scrambled some eggs for breakfast and she wouldn't even TASTE them.

I know she doesn't eat eggs much, but I thought she would at least try 1 bite...

My husband started getting sick when he eats store-bought eggs. This started a few years ago, before we got out own chickens. Now that we have fresh eggs...he can eat eggs again

Our's don't make him sick at all

I've never noticed a "smell" either. They are darker in color and stronger in taste. I could eat a dozen store bought eggs and feel like I ate air...fresh eggs are more substantial and more filling, IMO.

Oh, I've never ACTUALLY eaten a dozen eggs at once. It was an "egg"aggeration!

THanks guys, I feel better knowing you all understand!!!

Guess it just means more eggs for me and the family.

Cozy - CONGRATS on the pregnancy. I agree my sense of smell was really strong during my three pregnancies. First four months I couldn't stomach anything but baked potatoes...everything else turned my stomach.

I hear you. I have a friend who I have been giving eggs to for a a couple of years. His new fiance and her daughter moved in a couple of weeks ago. He tells me that he has to buy eggs now because his fiance's daughter won't eat my fresh eggs becasue they are too dark.

Oh well, more for me to sell than !!
