Got my first egg, unsure when...?

You can tell when an egg is bad very easily. I float test them when I find a hidden nest.

Your eggs will be fine! Hatching eggs are at that temperature for 21 and do not rot unless there was something wrong with the egg

I suppose it's more of anxiety of giving my parents a rotten egg. It happened once and I felt absolutely awful as it ruined a dozen eggs in the bowl. I hate eggs so I just give them away to my family.
I gave up selling them since people just resell them for a buck higher.

Hello! Im new, so hopefully I'm posting in the right section...
So I got my first egg (YAY!), but I'm not sure when it was laid. Im confident it was today or yesterday, but the weather is super hot here right now (in the 100s). If it was laid yesterday, is it still edible after 2 days in the coop in 100 degree weather?

Have you tried selling the cat's eggs? I hear they're rare and go for a fortune if you can find any. Put that cat in your avatar to work and you can get a lot more than a dollar a dozen!

I wish, I bet she'd make the prettiest eggs she's the Queen, she puts ME to work haha!

I would definately NOT feed it back to the chickens. You never want your chickens to think eggs are their food. Could start egg eating.
Also dont feed it to your dog raw, same reason. If your dog realizes that eggs are food he might start sneeking into the coop and eating them. If you scramble it for him first it is still very healthy for him. Congratulations on your new layers!

I back-feed excess eggs to my birds, but cook them first. I don't want them getting any bird brained ideas about raw eggs.

I usually do the same pretty much. Every Sunday, what ever I haven't got rid of during the week I scramble up for them. Very seldom do I have eggs laying around that are more than a week old. The fresher, the better!
