GOT MY FIRST EGG YESTERDAY!

I went to check my girls yesterday evening and low and behold in the middle of the coop was my first beautiful egg.

The picture is my egg compared to a store bought large egg. I believe this was possibly laid by one of my Delawares.

I was so excited, caught me totally of guard, she didn't do the squat or the egg song or anything.

One of my four girls does that, too. Hardly ever hear a peep out of her...the other three??? Not so much. They bwok their fool heads off...all...day....long...drives ya nutso!!

Nothing today but I didn't expect any. I wasn't expecting my first egg until after thanksgiving so yesterday was a complete surprise!

When I got my current flock of girls, they went into an adjustment period. I was only getting an egg per day out of 6 chickens. I was excited about that one egg. Then slowly, they started laying more and more until they got to a regular output of 5-6 per day. I can understand the excitement.

I'm new to chickens and bought 6 hens a month ago and JUST got my first 4 eggs in the last 5 days. I'm pretty sure it's just one of the six so I'm (IM)patiently waiting on the others to catch on! My husband doesn't share my enthusiasm and feels honey aren't earning their keep...lol
