Got my first-ever chicks...there are no stupid questions, right?

Now that I've had them for the day, I've seen a variety of amusing sleeping positions. And sudden startled-awake dances. SO funny! Particularly when there does not seem to be anything that could have startled the chick....dreams???

I call them little bobble heads when they are only a day or two old. There feet are usually too big for there body, then they will take two steps and fall asleep. I love it when they pile on top of each other and you end up with a pile of fuzz.

I love watching them. Ours run around full speed and then all of a sudden look like wind-up toys unwinding to a sputtery stop. They just kind of melt and sink to the ground.

I never thought I'd see a bird lying down on it's belly, head resting turned to the side, legs splayed out behind...amazing. Do they do this as adults too?

when our little ones slept, it looked like a bomb had blown them up. the were laying everywhere. sometimes they would just pile up like puppies. kinda miss them little fuzzy butts. they were real funny at that age.

I was just like you when I started. Luckily for me I had found a post on here that warned me they would look like they were dead when they were really sleeping. Didn't stop me from waking them up to be sure though. All of us are nervous chick moms--even those with lots of experience.

Enjoy them cause man do they grow fast!

I am a new chicken mama and I love watching them cuddled up in different little groups each night or sprawled out all alone. So funny the first weeks when sleep would happen so suddenly!
