Got my fuzzy butts this morning 03/31/2011

I got the call from the post office @ 8:00 am and had them in my hands by 8:10.

Schlecht Hatchery out of Iowa is awsome. Order arived with NOT even 1 loss. The chicks were all very healthy and active.

Brought them home and dipped their beaks in water and most went back to drinking.

Spread some feed on the floor of the brooder and they went to munching.

The ones I have been hatching have been scittish around humans, not these guys you have to watch what you do or they are coming out the front door of the brooder.

I am VERY happy with my shipment from Schletch. I would advise them to anyone.

I ordered 45 Rhode Island Reds, 40 Barred Rocks, 30 Blue Laced Red Wyandottes, and got 25 free male sex links (Yum, Yum good eats)
They had a heat spike sunday and lost the BLRW but told me they would have them ready in about 2 weeks.

Thanks. I like hatching my own but seems like most of the girls I find around here wind up being mixed and I want to breed true. But then again most of my EEs are all mixed up but people just love the blues and greens.



I ordered enough to be able to keep a dozen hens each and sell the rest to pay for mine. I have about 200 eggs in incubators right now, but those are mosly eggs that I have ordered or from my EEs.

I just went to the Schlecht Hatchery website and was disappointed to see that the minimum order is 25 chicks and 4 dozen hatching eggs.

I was hoping I could order a small quantity.....
