If event repeated, then consider placing a small light in coop so chickens can see predator and give alarm call to alert dogs. My hotwire keeps out ground predators, but not GHO so light helps chickens inform dogs of predator visits in real time. Light need not be strong enough to provide significant heat or promote egg laying.
