I recently bought the Hova bator Genesis 1588 from "Incubator Warehouse". $119 before shipping. I would buy the biggest you can afford. If you buy a smaller one now, you'll just wish you got a bigger one later. Too, you can always hatch a few eggs in a big one, but you can't put alot of eggs in a little one.
This is my first hatch in 1588, so I can't say whether it will improve my hatching skills or make up for the lack thereof. So I can't recommend anything, just think you should get the biggest you can afford. "Incubator Warehouse" was cheapest for the incu I wanted, as I was specifically searching for the 1588. You may be looking for something else and like "my momma told me , you better shop around".

Ohhh this looks like a fun project! I can probally get some fertilized EE eggs from my neighbors to try it on for a test run!!! im excited now! lol i gotta get on this... I think the chickens have gotten to my head!

So im defiently making a homemade one!!! I got the styraphome shell and now im gathering up the other pices. I have two poeople willing to give me eggs to try, im going to get 3 from the people next door, 3 from a dad's freind and i will fill the dozon with some from Trader Joes, i figured it would give me a higher fertlity rate. But before i get eggs i need to make the bator!

I agree with the homemade bator. I am just too cheap to pay for even a "cheaper" incubator, when I can do it for myself for less than $25! I had to buy a new thermometer, or it would have been under $10! Yes, I'm very frugal (ie cheapie cheapskate)

me too I'm a cheapskate! My mom is like "well how much are they?" I said the cheapest one is like $50 and she's said well here go buy it! I said No. I didn't want her money! I wanted to build one! so me, DH and my father (who is a cheapskate also) built one. Why buy if you can build? YAH!

Do you have pictures of yours? Any Tips on building them? Im hopefully going to start mine this weekend, If i plan it right i'll have the eggs hatching during my spring break which would be good so i can be home!!! But that means putting the eggs into the 'Bator when my chicks from Mcmurray come in at the end of the month!
