As a 4-H project my son is raising 25 chicks. We live in the country but have never had chickens. I have bookmarked the thread "Required and Suggested Reading" and will work on it as I have time. I'll also search the board for answers to any questions.
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? NEW TO CHICKENS, RECEIVED OUR FIRST CHICKS THURSDAY (April 7 2011)
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? TWENTY-FIVE
(3) What breeds do you have? Ummm....I forgot what the first letter said...thinking maybe Leghorn?? We'll find out eventually, I suppose
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? BING search engine
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? RIDING HORSES, TRAINING STOCK DOGS, READING, READING, PLAYING PIANO; SON HUNTS... ANYTHING, PLAYS FOOTBALL, BASEBALL, BASKETBALL
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. MARRIED, CHILDREN, SAHM, OLDEST SON IS 12YO (this is "his" project)
This looks like a fabulous, information, entertaining, helpful board and I look forward to becoming a chicken expert!
