Checked on the ladies this morning and to my surprise as I checked inside the coop there was a nice little brown egg in the laying box. She pulled the straw together in a nice little pile nestled in and left us our first gift. I am sure it was from one of our 2 Barred Rocks since there were about 10 black and white speckled feathers on top of the straw and around the egg. I guess it's time to switch to Laying feed.

So I tried the golf ball idea last night to help encourage to lay more eggs (I guess thats the idea

) but all it did was encourage our red Sex Link to lay on them. Should I be concerned she is going to skip laying and go "Broody" or is this just normal behavior for a hen that hasn't laid an egg yet?

Well my still not yet 17 week BR has now layed 4 eggs in 4 days, I think we have an egg laying machine. First 3 were relativly small, todays was larger than a store bought large.
