Got our first egg! EDIT: And #2 today!

So last night when I got home from work I went to check on my Ladies and Gentleman like I normally do. Wanted to give them some treats and clean their waterer. I decided to have a peak inside the coop and found our first egg! Don't know which one laid it but at this point, I'm just happy! Our Nesting pads are going in today and their Starter/Grower feed should be finished within the next few days so I will transition them to Layer Feed this weekend.

We bought all our chick's as day old chick's on April 21st.

Our flock consists of 10 total birds with 9 hens and 1 roo.

- Americuana (Frank)
- Jersey Giant (Precious)
- Buff Brahma (Felicia)
- 2x Lavender Orpingtons (1 week older than rest) (Marry Kate and Ashley)
- 2x Barnevelder (1 week older than rest) (Pookie and Baby)
- Production Red (Dolly)
- Isa Brown (Sunny)
- Black Australorp (Poppy)

Wow, that's a nice sized egg! I would guess it's from either Dolly or Sonny. Looks a bit like my Golden Comet eggs. Congrats!

Haha. Our was pretty awesome. My wife and daughter were so excited to see it! I'll always remember the joy on their faces.

Does she squat if you hover a hand over her? Not all layers do it, but I've had 100% success rate. And tell Frank to start spreading the love!

Oddly enough she doesn't seem to do it. Ill try again this evening. Felicia has always squatted it seems ever since she was little when I hovered or went to pet her.

Yes, I have one that does that too! I'm like, "Why are you squatting?! You're not laying eggs at 5 weeks old!"

Oh man!!! My wife just sent me a text at work and a photo!! Egg number 2!! She said she really thinks this one is from Sunny be cause she heard a chicken doing her sounds and went out and saw Sunny come out the coop! Definitely different than yesterday's egg.
