Got our goats yesterday!

Good luck with your New goats; we have 5 goats and 3 sheep (plus of course our chickens) and love them all. The goats have such great personalities and love to be loved.
Yes, you can use electric fence - we have regular farm fencing and it has held up for two years with only a few escapes. They do seem to know where the fence is weak.
Happy New Year

Happy New Year! Just wanted to say thanks again for the advice! My little goat girl is still very stand offish, but she is eating out of my hand now. The big one is getting downright friendly, though.

She lets me grab her by the collar and move her around a bit, as long as I have some sweet feed on me somewhere, even if I haven't given it to her yet. She lets me pet her all over now, and I just gave her hoofs a looksy, looking good. I think it's going to work out. At this rate, she'll be very tame by the time she kids and I start milking.

Oh, and they both come when I shake the feed scoop now. Success!

Is there any way for me to tell if my big one is actually pregnant yet? I think the earliest she could have gotten pregnant is late Sep/early Oct, I think that's when he said most of his young does went into season. They were in with a buck until I picked her up the end of Dec, though, so who knows. She's already chubbier, but the sweet feed probably has a lot to do with that! lol

Hahaha. I got two twinsisters that I was told "could be bred".... One of the girls I could tell she was ready to go any time for the last two months. The other I didnt know for sure she was bred until I found her with a kid! Funny how they were so different!
