Got Paint?

Hi! You could have done it already in the time it took to type it all out.
Just DO it. Have fun.

I would get the drill mounted auger if you have a strong drill motor. It will make it a lot easier. If you use one keep a 5 gallon bucket with water in it and clean the auger in it right away. Sounds like too much fun. Covering the whole floor is a good idea. I don't spatter that far, but if you drip a glob on the drip cloth you might step in it and track it.

Good luck. Sage is a nice color. Easy on the eyes and doesn't suck all the light out of the room.

It probably took me five minutes to type my post. If you can texturize and paint my bedroom in five minutes, come on over, you're hired!

So, your dad, who's a professional painter and a flattener of surfaces, didn't tell you that you'd need a strong 1/2" drill and a steel mixer paddle to blend the paint into the mud? Or didn't have one that you could borrow?

Thanks, Dad!

Of course he told me that. I insisted that I can do it by hand and he said yes, it would just be a little harder to mix. He did not have one I could borrow; he works for a large company and does spray painting these days, and I didn't want to buy one. It's only joint compound mixed with paint, and I'm doing one room not the whole house; I'm sure I'll manage.

I bet you can do it, just use less paint and joint compound at time!

FYI, every time I paint, my guy asks me how much is in my hair.........a lot!

I smoothed a room a couple of years ago, I used tons of joint compound in the 1 gallon cans, for the next two rooms, I got the 5 gallon bucket too!
