I'll be a while. I'm redoing the whole bedroom, new furniture too, so I'll probably just wait for it to be done and then post before, during and after pics. I'm having my bed made to order in Maine, so that alone will be a few weeks.
My Mom (at age 70) just texturized her bathroom walls, after stripping the wallpaper that we put up in 1996! It took her while, she started small and in an out of the way spot so she could get the technique down. I have not seen it as she lives a state away, but she said it looks good. I think just taking your time is key here.

Thank you! And that's exactly what my dad said too, he said to start BEHIND my bedroom door to test it out and get the feel of it. That is exactly what I will do.

But you can't afford a drill?
I didn't say I was buying all new furniture, Royd. It's going to take weeks because my uncle is making a bed for me for the cost of materials only. He has a busy furniture shop in Maine, and is gracious enough to make me a bed for cheaper than I can buy one; hence my long wait for it, as he will be doing in as he is able in his spare time, for which I am very thankful. He is also making it with a platform base so that I only have to buy a cheap futon mattress, since I can't afford a regular box spring/mattress set. I'd spent months looking around for a used bed in second hand shops, but can only find the type that require a mattress and box spring set. And in case you are also curious why I don't get a second-hand mattress/box spring set, there is a bed bug epidemic around this country and I'm not willing to take that risk. And in case you also are curious about this; my dad's buddy is making me storage cubes to put my clothes in since I can't afford a bureau/dresser. He is doing that also for the cost of materials only, so when people do favors out of kindness, you don't rush them. So no, Royd, I do not have some personal designer making me custom furniture, I have friends and family doing me favors in their free time because they know I don't have much money. That $160 bucks I spent on paint and supplies and the money for materials for a bed and storage cubes for my clothes is A LOT of money to me, so yeah, I won't be splurging on a drill. I hope that my answer satisfies your skepticism.
I am confused by your ongoing need to post sarcastic questions, never a kind or supportive word, but only back-handed questions as if I am under some sort of scrutiny in your eyes. You've done this on this thread, and others. I don't know if you just do this with just me, or with everyone, but I find it very disheartening to try to post my little moments of joy and humor in an otherwise stressful life of ongoing struggle, only to have people like yourself insert snide comments poorly disguised as innocent questions with the apparent attempt at embarrassing me, but only makes me feel frustrated and sad. So if it really pleases you to pick apart my posts, question them, analyze me, if you really get some satisfaction from it, carry on. Or perhaps you could just leave me with my humorous stories of life's struggles and little triumphs and take your cynicism elsewhere and go rain on someone else's parade.
Ps - I've seen that look before and wondered what it was... and now I finally know! Thanks! We'll still be here in a month or so to see how it all looks together... even if we are bursting at the seams....
Prep work officially begins tonight, taping off edges, laying down drop cloth etc, and maybe even starting painting if I'm not too tired. I can't wait to see that room a different color!
