Got the first egg today! eggciting!!

I have to say, I really am shocked the girls are laying...three of them now for the last few days! they are all 26 weeks old now.
I fully expected they would not lay until Spring, since our Michigan days are still short and dark early and Im not giving them supplemental light.

Just got my first egg today but there were 3 eggs so i guess i don’t catch on very quick! Pretty sure I only have one layer but I literally cried. I am in MI too and figured my August born chickens would not lay until Spring.

Pullets are not smart enough to not lay in the winter... it's how you get fresh eggs year round add a few to the flock each year.
