On the MN prairie.
I got these from a friend this winter, who had gotten them from someone else. They lay brown eggs in various shades. Just wondering what breeds they might be in case I have to replace them. One of them lays big double-yolkers every day. The rooster isn't the prettiest bird I've ever had, but is gentle. Does age have anything to do with the size of the spurs? Thanks for any input!

A red sex-link is produced by crossing specific breeds, which will make the pullets hatch out red, and the cockerels hatch out white. Usually it's a Rhode Island Red or New Hampshire Red rooster crossed with a Silver Laced Wyandotte, White Rock, Rhode Island White, or Delaware hen. Yours aren't Delaware crosses though. The Delaware sex-link hens have black tail feathers. Hope this helps!
