The two "favorite " boxes change on a daily basis, but it is rare that I find eggs in more than two in any given day. My boxes are milk crates with plywood over the top. Three big hens can cram themselves into one box at the same time. Wouldn't be so bad if they didn't kick eggs out, even with a three inch lip.![]()
If I am working in the garden and I hear some irritated chatter, it seems to always be the same hen irritating the others by taking up as much space in the nesting box as possible. I’ll tell her to move on out or to stop irritating the others, normally she will hop down and the next hen in line will hop in.So true
